Floatation therapy is an incredibly effective antidote to the stress and strain of modern day city life. The deep state of relaxation reached during a one hour session is equal to four hours normal sleep. Experience shows that floatation therapy is very beneficial in treating a myriad of problems including stress, muscle injuries, back pain, arthritis, rheumatism, insomnia, migraines and even jet lag.
Simply put floatation therapy, or a float, involves lying in 25cm deep warm water with enough Epson salts to support the body to float effortlessly in a weightless state. External distractions like light, sound and touch, are minimised to create a space where you can discover a profound sense of relaxation and peace. Research shows that when the brain is freed from all sensations – gravity, temperature, sight, sound, touch – it enters a theta brainwave state which can normally only be achieved through deep meditation. Essentially, floating is a short cut to the beneficial effects of years of meditative training.
What to expect
A floatation session will last one hour and 20 minutes including time to shower and dress. We recommend you also allow extra 15 – 30 minutes to relax afterwards with some complementary refreshments.
